Inner Inheritance and Wise Servant

Proverbs 17:2 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Proverbs 17 in context

Scripture Focus

2A wise servant shall have rule over a son that causeth shame, and shall have part of the inheritance among the brethren.
Proverbs 17:2

Biblical Context

A wise, disciplined inner faculty can govern even the outward source of shame. It will share in the inner inheritance among the brethren when you rule from the I AM within.

Neville's Inner Vision

Think of the wise servant as your calm, disciplined I AM—the inner state that rules your house of thoughts. The son that causeth shame is the restless belief that someone or something outside you can dethrone that ruler. When you refuse to feed that belief and instead seat the wise servant on the throne of your imagination, you begin to rule your inner world. The inheritance is the wealth of beingness, health, harmony, and opportunities that arise as you dwell in that state. Proverbs speaks of governance and sharing among the brethren—the other facets of yourself that share in this inner wealth. In Neville's psychology, every character and event mirrors a state of consciousness; thus, the wise ruler can claim control over the 'shame' tableau simply by assuming and maintaining the state of the ruler. Persist in the feeling that you already possess the inheritance, and the outer scene will rearrange to reflect that inner government. The Kingdom of God is your present awareness, not a future place; you awaken it through the act of ruling with the inner wisdom you already are.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly and assume the state, 'I am the wise servant ruling in my inner house.' Revise any sense of lack and feel-it-real that your inheritance is already yours, inviting harmony to enter your life.
