Inner Instruction and Reproof

Proverbs 10:17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Proverbs 10 in context

Scripture Focus

17He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.
Proverbs 10:17

Biblical Context

Keeping instruction is the path to life. Refusing reproof leads you into error.

Neville's Inner Vision

Two states of consciousness stand before you in Proverbs 10:17: the one that keeps instruction and the one that refuses reproof. In Neville's sense, the man who keeps instruction is simply the mind that chooses alignment with the I AM—the inner law that knows truth and moves the life into its right direction. The other, who refuses reproof, is the self convinced it has nothing to learn, a state that resists feedback and thus misaligns with life. Reproof is not punishment but a gentle nudge from the inner architect, correcting you back to your rightful condition. When you perceive correction as mercy, you release fear of error and invite a finer alignment. Sit with the sense: I AM aware, I AM receptive, I AM the inner governor; I welcome every counsel that keeps me in the way of life. Your imagination is the instrument by which this inner instruction becomes outward fact; you are not led by chance, but by your awakened consciousness.

Practice This Now

Assume I am guided by an inner instruction that loves correction; revise immediately when reproved, saying, 'I welcome this correction as my inner guide' and feel it as warm light within.
