Biblical Context
Paul declares you are given both belief and suffering for Christ's sake. The inner condition of faith reveals how trials refine the soul.
Neville's Inner Vision
Consider that unto you it is given in behalf of Christ; this 'given' is not a command to endure more pain, but an invitation to ascend in your own consciousness. The word 'believe' is not mere assent to a historical person, but the act of recognizing the I AM that you are. Suffering, in this field of faith, is the inner friction that reveals whether you still identify with lack or limitation. When you resist, you prove you have not accepted the state you already possess; when you consent, you allow the Christ within to act through you. The trial becomes a crucible in which your old self is burned away and your new self—responsive to God—emerges. Your vocation is the daily practice of aligning feeling and thought with the state you desire; you are not a passive beneficiary but a creator who imagines. Know that the I AM within is your true self, and it is in you to imagine and feel the fulfillment.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and revise your sense of self by declaring, 'I am the I AM within me; I now assume the state of grace and feel it real as the truth of my life.'
