The Inner Life Choice

Philippians 1:22-24 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Philippians 1 in context

Scripture Focus

22But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.
23For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:
24Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.
Philippians 1:22-24

Biblical Context

Paul faces a tension between remaining in the body to bless others and departing to be with Christ; the passage frames life and death as inner states of consciousness and choice.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this moment you are Paul on a vessel of consciousness. The two desires are not two futures but two ways of living in the I AM. To live in the flesh is to identify with the fruit of labor—outward results that come from your present state. To depart and be with Christ is to rest in the unity of allness, where Christ is the awareness that you already are. The tension arises from a belief that you must choose between usefulness in the world and surrender to the higher life. You do not choose an outer path; you assume the state and the outer aligns. The better is to abide in the consciousness that you are already with Christ and that your life in form serves that inner truth. When you feel yourself anchored in the I AM, you discover that to depart and to remain are the same movement in consciousness: a shift of identification, not a change of geography. In that moment, your present circumstances reveal the fruit that matches your inner state.

Practice This Now

Assume the state of being already united with Christ within; revise your sense of separation and feel it real now.
