Paul notes that some preach Christ from envy or strife, while others preach from goodwill; yet Christ is proclaimed in every case, and he rejoices.
Neville's Inner Vision
Beloved, imagine the apostle's scene as a mirror of your inner life: some speak of Christ from envy, others from love. In this Neville-verse, the outer motive is only a pointer to your real state of consciousness. Christ is preached not by changing others but by awakening your own I AM to its sovereignty. If you focus on the content of their words, you miss the point; if you awaken to the fact that the gospel is already within you, you defend it by quiet, steady joy. When contention arises, see it as a flare announcing your own need to expand the circle of love in your inner world. In truth, whether preached in pretence or sincerity, the vibration of 'Christ is preached' is a signal that the inner kingdom is moving. You do not recoil; you rejoice, for you know the defense of the gospel is the defense of your own wholeness. Thus every outer motive becomes a door into your heart's immutable I AM.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and assume the state that the I AM is the speaker behind every message about Christ. Feel it-real by affirming, 'Christ is proclaimed through me now, and my joy is in the gospel defended by love.'
