Biblical Context
Philippians 1:15-16 presents a contrast: some preach Christ from envy and strife, while others preach with goodwill. The verse hints that motives color the message and the effect on the speaker.
Neville's Inner Vision
Let the scene be a mirror of your own inner life. When Paul speaks of preaching Christ from envy and strife, he exposes inner movements you may entertain: doubt, personal gain, the need to prove yourself, the fear of bonds. The 'affliction' of his bonds is the imagined limitation you carry as if you are separated from your own universal purpose. In the Nevilleian sky of consciousness, the word 'Christ' is the living idea of your true I AM, the consciousness that can move and bless without contention. If you notice envy arising, do not resist it as a fact of others; instead, recognize it as a signal that some part of you has forgotten the wholeness of your being. Choose to preach Christ through goodwill, which means your imagination aligns with unity, not division. When you return to the feeling that you are already the channel through which truth is proclaimed, the sense of bondage dissolves, and the outward scene shifts to reveal harmony.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: For the next few minutes, assume the inner posture of goodwill; feel the Christ within you proclaiming through love, and observe how the mind softens the sense of bondage.
