East of Jordan, Inner Inheritance
Numbers 32:16-19 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Numbers 32 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
They propose settling east of the Jordan, building sheepfolds and cities for their families, and will go ahead armed until all Israelites receive their inheritance; they refuse to return home until everyone's allotted portion is secured, claiming inheritance on this side of Jordan.
Neville's Inner Vision
Numbers is not a map of geography but of consciousness. The speakers’ plan—sheepfolds, cities, and an armed march—reveals how one might secure a hoped-for future by mental act. The east of Jordan becomes an inner domain beyond old limits, a covenant loyalty to a chosen end. I am the I AM who claims an inheritance not by external conquest but by inner assumption. When I commit to going ahead of my life—preparing the inner thoughts and habits—I practice the feeling that my desire is already mine. Building fenced cities for the little ones symbolizes guarding the thoughts that sustain fulfillment, shielding against doubt and fear. The vow not to return until inheritance is secured is a discipline to hold the image until it manifests, resisting appearances of lack. I dwell in that inner land now, on this side of my Jordan, and trust that the outer world follows from that unwavering inner truth.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the feeling, 'I am dwelling in my promised land now.' Visualize the details that matter to you, and stay with the sensation until it feels utterly real.
