Biblical Context
God commands Moses to count Levi by family. The text lists the three sons: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
Neville's Inner Vision
Beloved, in Neville's sense the census is a wakeful inventory of your inner faculties. Levi stands for the sacred service of the I AM, a department within your consciousness set apart to attend to Presence. To number Levi by house and family is to arrange your inner powers into orderly channels under divine guidance, not under fear. The names Gershon, Kohath, and Merari point to three aspects of mind that must be recognized and harmonized: perception and memory (Gershon), keeping and carrying what you value (Kohath), and movement in order and discipline (Merari). When Moses 'numbered them according to the word of the LORD,' you are being invited to align your inner measurements with a higher law, the law of imagination acting in faith. The wilderness of Sinai becomes your inner arena where you practice obedience to the I AM by acknowledging these parts and organizing them into service of consciousness. Your sense of self expands as you dwell in the truth that you are the census-taker of your own reality; to the degree you name, honor, and harmonize these parts, you enact a broader covenant in your life.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, assume the role of Moses and count the Levi within you as Gershon, Kohath, and Merari; then affirm, I am the I AM, perfectly aligned. Let the feeling of unity settle in you as a done deal.
