Biblical Context
Israel joined Baalpeor, turning to an idol, and the LORD's anger was kindled against Israel.
Neville's Inner Vision
Picture Baalpeor as a symbol, not a place. In the drama of Numbers, the mind clings to a false power—the idol—that promises relief yet promises nothing real. When Israel 'joined' Baalpeor, the collective consciousness contracted away from the I AM, the living awareness. The 'anger of the LORD' is not punitive wrath upon bodies but the pressure of a mind that has forgotten its unity. The fire kindled is the heat of resistance within you to your true nature, the moment you identify with a limited image rather than the one reality that cannot be divided. To heal, you must reverse the assumption: you are already one with God; you are the I AM imagining this form as you. See the idol as a temporary projection of fear, lack, or need, and refuse to empower it with any lasting reality. The moment you persist in the awareness of unity, the sense of distance dissolves, and true worship—open, abiding consciousness—returns.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and repeat: I am the I AM; I am one with God now. Imagine the idol dissolving into light and feel the reality of your wholeness.
