Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage prescribes a purification rite: a red heifer is brought outside the camp, slain, its blood sprinkled before the tabernacle seven times, the animal burned with its remains, and cedar wood, hyssop, and scarlet cast into the fire.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within you, the 'red heifer' is any habit or belief you would die to in order to become more awake. By bringing it before the priest of your inner self (the higher I AM within you), you witness its death outside your current camp of familiar identity. The blood sprinkled seven times before the tabernacle of the congregation is a symbolic cleansing of your psychic space—each sprinkling a deliberate revision of the story you tell yourself about who you are. The burning of the heifer—skin, flesh, blood, dung—illustrates the total release of all expressions of old self-image. Cedar wood, hyssop, and scarlet cast into the fire represent steadfastness, purification, and return of vitality to consciousness; their ashes mingle with the purification, becoming the new flame of awareness. The moment you imaginatively witness this, you awaken to a purer sense of Self. The old state dies, and the new is formed in awareness.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: In a quiet moment, assume the role of the priest and present your impurity to the inner altar. See it slain, burned, and its ashes mingle with your I AM, replacing old self with purified awareness.
