Touching Inner Purity

Numbers 19:22 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Numbers 19 in context

Scripture Focus

22And whatsoever the unclean person toucheth shall be unclean; and the soul that toucheth it shall be unclean until even.
Numbers 19:22

Biblical Context

Numbers 19:22 shows that unclean contact makes both parties unclean until evening. It is a picture of how inner states, not external objects, determine purity.

Neville's Inner Vision

Numbers 19:22 speaks of uncleanness spreading by touch, yet the inner truth is different: contact reveals a belief, not a fact. The unclean thing is a state of mind you entertain, and the one who touches it is simply the I AM aware of that belief. When I imagine touching impurity, I am not contaminated; I am witnessing a dream that can be dissolved by the recognition that I am the light in which all images dissolve. The soul touched by impurity becomes only a temporary perception, because the presence of God—my own I AM—never departs from me. The 'evening' is not a season but the moment I decide to end the imagined duration of a limited state. The law in this verse becomes usable: I revise by assuming the opposite state, feeling it real, and letting the old feeling drop away in the light of consciousness. In that posture, purity is the natural condition of consciousness, and holiness is simply awareness of the I AM here and now.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and declare I am the I AM, I am pure consciousness now. Feel the sense of cleanliness spreading through your being and dissolving any sense of contamination.
