Biblical Context
In Numbers 18:8–19, Yahweh appoints Aaron and his sons to steward the heave offerings and all holy gifts, declaring them forever sacred for the priesthood and their households, with access for the clean.
Neville's Inner Vision
Picture the scene as a mirror of your inner life. Aaron is the I AM within you, the living consciousness that has been anointed with awareness and given charge of the sacred images and feelings you bear in mind and heart. The heave offerings and all the hallowed things are not external things; they are your states of consciousness—imagery, gratitude, intention, and worship—set apart for the Lord of your inner world. When the verse says these things shall be most holy for thee and thy sons, it is reminding you that your inner discipline must remain untouched by doubt, reserved for the temple of awareness. The instruction that the offerings be eaten in the most holy place by those clean in thy house is your signal that only pristine inner states feed the I AM; you nourish yourself by dwelling in the inner sanctuary. The 'covenant of salt' is the lasting, seasoned quality of your inner life, preserved and potent. The firstfruits, oil, wine, and wheat symbolize your finest thoughts and feelings; as you honor them, the energy flows into you, making your life a living sacrifice that sustains your being.
Practice This Now
Assume you are the steward of a sacred inner store. Imagine the best thoughts and feelings offered to the Lord and nourishing your life as you eat of them in your inner temple.
