Scripture Focus

1And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman.
2And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it.
Numbers 12:1-2

Biblical Context

Numbers 12:1–2 shows Miriam and Aaron opposing Moses over his marriage and challenging that God has spoken only through him. The scene closes with the reminder that God hears such thoughts within your own consciousness.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within your inner landscape, the characters Miriam and Aaron are not persons but two restless states of mind—jealousy, pride, and the impulse to claim spiritual status. Moses represents your central I AM, the place in you where God speaks as the living you; the Ethiopian wife stands for a perceived otherness you project onto your sacred path, a foreign coloring you call outside the norm. When they ask, Has the LORD spoken only by Moses? Hath he not spoken also by us? you hear the same old argument replaying in your heart: a fear that you are not the sole mouthpiece of truth, that other voices within are equal to your inner authority. But the divine hearing is within you; the moment you identify with the broader self, judgment dissolves. Neville teaches that God is your awareness; imagination creates reality; there is no separation between Moses and the others except in your thinking. So revise now: declare that the I AM speaks through Moses and through Miriam and Aaron as one mind; let every thought report to the same source; feel the authority return to you, steady, gentle, and true.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit still, close your eyes, and imagine the I AM speaking through you as Moses; thank the Miriam and Aaron voices as mere aspects of your mind, then revise, 'There is no separation—God speaks through all as one.'
