Scripture Focus

11For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.
Matthew 26:11

Biblical Context

Jesus notes that the poor will always be present, while his own physical presence is temporary. The verse invites a shift from external acts to inner awareness as the true focus of worship.

Neville's Inner Vision

Notice that 'the poor' in this line is not about money alone; it is a symbol for poverty consciousness—the belief that lack defines reality. The verse asks you to shift from seeking God in temples, rituals, or endings to recognizing Him as the I AM that moves through your own awareness. When Jesus says you have the poor always with you, he invites you to observe lack as a constant stimulus for awakening, not as a fate you must endure. The 'Me' you have not always is the living assurance of your true being, the Presence you can claim right now by a deliberate inner decision. If you live as if insufficiency governs you, acts of generosity may cover the surface without transforming the root. If, however, you assume the feeling of the inner abundance, the room, the money, the relationships—everything—become outward signs of an inner availability. True worship, then, is aligning with the I AM here and now, generous in spirit because you recognize you already possess the source within.

Practice This Now

Assume the feeling of the I AM in the moment. Close your eyes, revise 'I am poor' into 'I am rich with God now,' and dwell in that sense until it feels real.
