Biblical Context
Matthew 23:8–10 cautions against exalting teachers and titles; the true Master is the Christ within, and all are brethren under the Father in heaven.
Neville's Inner Vision
Here the outer titles—Rabbi, Father, Master—are symbols of a mind clinging to authority outside itself. In Neville’s law, the only Master worth acknowledging is the Christ within, the I AM that is your true consciousness. When you crave a church throne or a revered figure, you reveal a split in awareness, a belief that power comes from without. The verse invites you to reverse that belief: there is one Master, and that Master is the inner Christ within you. You are brethren with every man and woman because the Father is in heaven and also in your own heart; to treat another as merely a student or inferior is to forget the unity of life. Practice shifts from outward titles to inward recognition: feel the I AM as sovereign, and let your actions flow from that union. As you dwell in that awareness, the sense of separation dissolves, and authority is redistributed to your inner Christ, the one Master in you and in all.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Assume the revision—there is one Master in me—the Christ within; feel it real for 60 seconds. Then act from that inner authority, treating every person as a brother.
