Gathering Under Divine Wings

Matthew 23:37 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Matthew 23 in context

Scripture Focus

37O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
Matthew 23:37

Biblical Context

Jesus laments Jerusalem’s resistance to the prophets and to the sheltering care offered. He expresses a longing to gather and protect.

Neville's Inner Vision

Jerusalem is not a distant city; it is the inner state of your own consciousness that believes it must stand apart. The hen’s wings symbolize the immediacy of I AM, the tender presence of God that would fold every fragment—fear, desire, memory—into one warm circle of life. When you hear, 'how often would I have gathered,' understand that the divine longing is your own I AM calling you from separation back to unity. The resistance, the 'ye would not,' is a habit of mind—a belief in lack or distance. By assuming the feeling of being gathered under divine wings, you revise the entire scene. Form follows the state; your outer world aligns once you inhabit the shelter of mercy and presence. Let mercy, grace, and protection saturate your being, and notice the Jerusalem you address becoming a temple where all parts are welcomed into one living whole. The practice is to rest in the truth that God is present as I AM, gathering you and all things into wholeness.

Practice This Now

Assume the state: I am gathered under the wings of God’s presence, and feel the shelter wrapping me now. Revise the sense of separation and let a unified life become real in my chest.
