Biblical Context
Herod's rage represents a fear-driven mind acting in judgment. The massacre symbolizes the inner destruction of innocent possibilities when consciousness identifies with separation.
Neville's Inner Vision
Herod in the story is not a person but a state of mind—fear masquerading as will. He sees himself mocked by the wise seekers and, in that claustrophobic certainty, slaughters the innocents—the children of possibility within you that would remind you of your unity with all life. The wise men come bearing gifts of understanding, but their journey points you inward: the recognition that the Kingdom of God is not an earthly conquest but a realization in consciousness. When you identify with the I AM—your steadfast awareness—Herod’s rage loses its leverage, for you do not react from fear but from the knowing of who you are. The outer judgment reflects an inner condition; transform the condition, and the scene rearranges itself. The so-called massacre dissolves as the mind yields its hold on separation and settles into the divine activity of awareness. In this light, suffering and trials fade when you acknowledge your true sovereignty: I AM; therefore, this moment is your Kingdom.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and declare, I am the I AM; revise the scene to show the inner children safe and the wise men welcomed. Feel the reality of your dominion and let the fear dissolve.
