From Hardness to Covenant Within
Matthew 19:8-9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Biblical Context
Jesus explains that divorce was permitted because people’s hearts were hard, but the original design was unity. Remarriage after divorce is described as adultery, signaling the fragmentation of that sacred oneness.
Neville's Inner Vision
Your inner scripture speaks of hardness of heart as a misalignment in consciousness. Moses’ rule arises from that collective state of separation; yet the original order was unity, wholeness, and fidelity to the one life. When you feel drawn to part from a partner or seek fulfillment elsewhere, you are not being punished by a distant command but showing a belief that you are less than one with Creation. The cure is not a reform of human law but a revision of your inner state: return to the beginning by acknowledging that you are already united in the I AM, and that any appearance of division is a mental image you can dissolve. See your partner as the living expression of your own wholeness, forgive past judgments, and imagine a present that remains intact in consciousness. The 'fornication' clause is a metaphor for betraying the inner covenant by chasing substitutes rather than the primal reality of oneness. Align your attention with the truth of unity, and your outer life follows in harmony.
Practice This Now
Assume the feeling of perfect inner unity now: I am one with my partner in the I AM, and our lives are forever joined in consciousness. Hold this feeling for a few minutes, revising any sense of separation until it feels real.
