Inner Worship Beyond Tradition

Mark 7:7-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Mark 7 in context

Scripture Focus

7Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
8For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
Mark 7:7-8

Biblical Context

The passage warns that worship becomes vain when one follows human rules rather than God's commandment; true reverence arises from inner alignment with the I AM.

Neville's Inner Vision

Observe that the scribes and Pharisees worship by tradition, not by the living word within. In my view, such worship is a state of consciousness out of touch with the I AM you are, for you clothe your imagination in human rules and mistake form for reality. The commandment of God is not a distant statute but the inward impulse of truth within your own heart. When you cling to men's doctrines, you lay aside the inner law and enact rituals that separate you from the One Mind. To reverse this, assume you are already in harmony with God's law; revise your belief that tradition governs you; feel the truth as real now. Dwelling in the feeling that you are the I AM, your imaginal acts become the real-world expression of that commandment. The inner alignment dissolves conflict and permits life to conform to the living order you carry within.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and declare, 'I am the I AM; I am in full harmony with God's command within me,' and feel that truth as real now for several breaths.
