Inner Purity Beyond Rituals

Mark 7:17-19 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Mark 7 in context

Scripture Focus

17And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.
18And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;
19Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?
Mark 7:17-19

Biblical Context

External actions cannot defile a person; defilement arises from the inner state, not from foods or rituals.

Neville's Inner Vision

In the kingdom of your mind, Mark 7:17–19 is not about dietary rules but about where you place your attention. What passes through the body is not what defiles you; what defiles you is a belief that you are defined by externals. The heart represents your I AM, your continuous awareness; when you fear a rule, you are handing your power to the outside world. But you can reframe instantly: see every event, every command, as a signal passing through the screen of your inner state. The 'drain' of the belly simply shows that you do not ingest truth by ritual, you digest it by conscious acceptance. Therefore, shift to the assumption: I am the I AM; I define what touches me. No ritual or external opinion can contaminate my inner peace. Feel into the sense that your true self already exists in wholeness, and all outward cleansing is but an appearance within your dream of life. As you dwell in this consciousness, your experiences align with purity, not by rule, but by the vitality of awareness.

Practice This Now

Imaginative_act: Before any encounter, assume 'I am the I AM; nothing outside can touch my inner peace,' and feel that truth glow in your chest.
