Biblical Context
In Mark 3:13-19, Jesus goes up the mountain and calls twelve to be with him, ordains them to preach, and endows them with power to heal and cast out devils. This scene reveals inner states of consciousness you awaken and use to fulfill your inner mission.
Neville's Inner Vision
Mark 3:13-19 is not a chronicle of historical figures; it is the scripture of your inner cabinet. The mountain you ascend is your rising awareness; the twelve called ones are twelve states of consciousness you choose to embody. When you decree that they be with him, you are choosing to dwell in the I AM—your indivisible awareness—and by that companionship you authorize a new movement in your life: you go forth to preach not on a street, but in your imagination. To preach is to affirm a truth in mood and memory; to heal is to relax fear and allow your inner light to work through you. The power granted to them over sickness and demons is the energy of consciousness you wield when you refuse to identify with limitation and instead identify with your highest self. Each name on the roll-call points to a facet of your mind—Peter as leadership, Boanerges as boldness, Judas as the temptation to separation—inviting you to integrate rather than split. The house they enter is your own mind, a sanctuary where you and your imagined community dwell in unity; the twelve become your method of turning inward vision into outward transformation.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, ascend in awareness to the inner mountain, and call forth the twelve states. Ordain them to be with you, then feel them going forth to preach, heal, and cast out limitation.
