Inner Discernment Against Deception

Mark 13:5-6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Mark 13 in context

Scripture Focus

5And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you:
6For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
Mark 13:5-6

Biblical Context

Jesus warns to beware deception by those claiming to be Christ; many will claim authority and mislead. The passage invites inner discernment and faithful trust rather than external authority.

Neville's Inner Vision

Take heed lest any man deceive you becomes a call to guard the heart’s inner state. The appearing ‘Christ’ in name is not a distant figure but a movement of thought that seeks to rule your self-definition. In Neville’s terms, every name, voice, or event that claims ultimate authority is a projection of your own mind; the true ruler is the I AM within, the unchanging awareness behind all appearances. When you identify with a thought or person, you invite deception by other thoughts that pretend to be the self’s savior. The antidote is inner alignment: return your attention to the I AM, feel its certainty, and test every message by whether it confirms the one presence you inhabit rather than promising salvation from someone else. By continually revising your sense of self to the experience of I AM-ness and feeling it real, you dissolve the power of false claims. The promise is not external; it is the experiential realization that awareness itself remains untouched by appearances and deceit when you choose to dwell as the true self here and now.

Practice This Now

Practice: In a quiet moment, assume the I AM is the sole authority in you; revise any voice that claims to be the savior by affirming, 'I am the I AM' and feeling that truth now.
