Scripture Focus

35And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.
36And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you?
37They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.
Mark 10:35-37

Biblical Context

James and John ask Jesus to grant them a place of honor in his glory; Jesus asks what they desire, challenging their demand for status.

Neville's Inner Vision

James and John stand at the threshold of glory, asking Jesus to grant them anything they desire. In Neville’s psychology, they are states of consciousness craving external recognition, a throne reserved for the ego. The true kingdom is not a seat of power among people, but the I AM—the unconditioned awareness that you are. When Jesus asks, 'What would ye that I should do for you?', he invites you to relinquish the demand for titles and to revise the inner scene. The right hand and the left hand symbolize the two faculties you already own—imagination and action—awaiting alignment under the single king, awareness. To feel it real, you must assume the state of being that corresponds to the desired effect, know that you already possess it in consciousness, and let the outer world reflect that inner government. The kingdom of God is within, and every outward sign bows to your inner conviction. So revise your desire into a certainty of your true throne and feel the reality of that inner sovereignty now.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, breathe, and assume the state: 'I am the I AM, seated in the throne of my inner awareness.' Feel it real.
