Mark 10:17-20 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Mark 10 in context

Scripture Focus

17And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?
18And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
19Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.
20And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.
Mark 10:17-20

Biblical Context

A wealthy seeker asks how to inherit eternal life; Jesus redirects to recognizing the inner God within, showing that true life comes from the I AM, not merely observance of external commandments.

Neville's Inner Vision

You are not the man who runs after external law; you are the I AM, the awareness that never changes. The rich young ruler represents the mind clinging to possessions and status, mistaking behavior for life. When Jesus asks why you call me good, he is pointing to the source of all goodness—the God within. The commandments can guide practice, but they do not grant life; life is the inner sense of being, the feeling that you belong to the divine. To inherit eternal life is to realize that the kingdom is already present in your consciousness and to live from that fact. The only real good is God, and the only true obedience is trust in that inner reality. As you revise your sense of self to be formed by the I AM, external circumstances align with your inner declaration. Your faith is not in laws fulfilled, but in the certainty that you are one with God.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume you have eternal life now. Say, I AM God within, and feel this life grounding every thought and sensation as you walk the inner path.
