The Inner Refining Fire

Malachi 3:2-3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Malachi 3 in context

Scripture Focus

2But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap:
3And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.
Malachi 3:2-3

Biblical Context

Malachi speaks of a day of testing where only those purified by a refiner’s fire and a fuller's soap can stand and offer righteousness to the LORD.

Neville's Inner Vision

Think of 'the day of His coming' not as time out there, but as the moment your old self meets the I AM you truly are. The refiner's fire is your attention, the heat of awareness turned upon every belief that would bind you. The fuller's soap is the cleansing you apply to your thoughts, brushing away the grime of lack, limitation, and doubt. He sits as purifier of silver—meaning the Self you identify as 'I' is continually quieting the old alloy and allowing your true substance to surface. The 'sons of Levi' are your noblest faculties—faith, loyalty, perception—being refined to offer to the LORD, that is, to consciousness, a clean, righteous life. When you realize that you are the I AM, you admit that this purification is not external but an internal revision of your state of being. Your offerings become righteous not by effort but by being the embodiment of your highest assumption.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and repeat, 'I AM purified by the fire of consciousness.' Then revise a current situation by assuming its new outcome as already yours, and feel the relief and righteousness in your body for a few minutes.
