Biblical Context
Malachi 2:14-16 speaks of God's witness over the marriage covenant, condemning treachery and divorce, urging loyalty to the wife of thy youth and a life that seeks godly offspring. It calls you to guard your spirit and not treacherously break the bond.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within the one mind of God, you are the husband and wife of Life, the I AM that witnesses every move. The wife of thy youth represents a state of consciousness you chose for a season—fidelity, loyalty, shared purpose—and God asks that you keep the vow within, because unity is the seed of your future. When you ask, 'Wherefore?', you are invited to realize that you have already created by two into one. The 'residue of the spirit' is the living energy that animates your inner union, not a history of persons. 'One' is for the purpose of a godly seed—your inner offspring of right thoughts, compassionate acts, and stable affection. To 'put away' is to betray the inner covenant and cover violence with your garment, but the remedy is to take heed to your spirit—align feeling, imagination, and belief so that treachery dissolves in light. Your outer relationships reflect your inner state; therefore, revise your scene inwardly until it feels true: you and your spouse are one in mind and will, channeling divine life through unity, mercy, and faithful loyalty.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled: you and your spouse are one in spirit. Dwell in that unity today and let your imagination align with divine fidelity.
