Hearing the Beloved Within
Luke 9:32-36 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Luke 9 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Peter and the others awaken to Jesus’ glory and hear a voice declare, This is my beloved Son: hear him. After the cloud passes, they keep silent about what they witnessed.
Neville's Inner Vision
Here, the outer scene is only the stage of your inner awakening. The sleep that weighs Peter and the company is the ordinary identification with lack, with time, with form. When they are awake enough to glimpse the glory, the two figures beside Jesus mirror your own hidden possibilities—the higher states you have not yet believed you could enter. The cloud that overshadows them is the intercourse of your conscious awareness with the unknown; fear gives way to holy awe, and in that awe, you hear the command, This is my beloved Son: hear him. The Son is not outside you; he is the activity of your I AM, the Self that already knows, perceives, and creates. To hear him is to align your inner sense with the truth you already are. Return from the restless pursuit of tabernacles and rest in the oneness where the Father and the Son are within you, now.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Assume you are the beloved Son now. In stillness, picture the cloud enveloping you and hear the inner voice declare, This is my beloved Son: hear him; let that hearing retrain your sense of self.
