Footwash of Forgiveness
Luke 7:44-47 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Luke 7 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jesus contrasts the woman's lavish devotion with Simon's neglect and declares her sins forgiven because she loved much. This shows forgiveness follows generous love and true turning.
Neville's Inner Vision
I hear the scene as a spiritual drama inside you. The woman is your awakened I AM, the tears are the release of old stubborn judgments, the hairs of her head are the threads of attention she gives to what is holy in you. The host Simon represents a mind that withholds water, a belief that you must earn approval; but Jesus turns to the woman and names the act of love as the very evidence of forgiveness already attained. In Neville’s language, God is your I AM, and the act of forgiveness is a shift of state: when you allow yourself to love deeply, your inner world is washed clean. The feet standing in tears become a symbol of letting go of self-condemnation; the kiss, the oil, the anointing are the consciousness of worth and grace you awaken. Therefore, your forgiveness is not earned by acts you perform externally but realized by how you pour love into your own attention. To whom little is forgiven, loves little; to whom much is forgiven, loves much.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and revise your sense of self: imagine you are the woman at the feet of your own I AM, tears released, kissing the feet of your true nature; then declare, I am forgiven, and feel the love flowing through you until you act from grace.
