Inner Authority Within Luke 4:34-37
Luke 4:34-37 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Luke 4 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
A demon recognizes Jesus as the Holy One of God; Jesus commands it to come out, and the man is freed. The passage shows an authority over inner forces and the crowd's astonishment.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within Luke 4:34-37, the 'devil' is not a distant tormentor but a stubborn belief of separation from God—habitual thought that you are less than the I AM. The unclean spirit speaks, 'I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God,' and in that moment the inner king recognizes its own sovereignty and commands: 'Hold thy peace, and come out of him.' The act is not about exorcising a man but about waking to your true consciousness. When you claim the identity of the Holy One within, you speak with the authority that is your divine nature, and the 'devil' departs without harm. The people marvel because the atmosphere has shifted; the old belief system collapses into quiet, and your inner city is cleansed. The external scene mirrors your inner state: once you know yourself as the I AM, the world begins to respond in accord, and the fame you hear is the recognition of your awakened sovereignty.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Assume the Holy One within now; revise a lingering fear by quietly saying, 'Hold thy peace, and come out of me,' and feel it melt away. Rest in the I AM and notice the scene of your inner city cleared, as if the crowd of doubt falls silent.
