Biblical Context
Two malefactors rail against Jesus; one mocks, the other acknowledges their shared condemnation and asks Jesus to remember him, to which Jesus replies that today he will be with him in paradise.
Neville's Inner Vision
Two crucified figures stand in the theater of your mind, not merely historical men but two states of consciousness. The one who rails is the mortal mind clinging to evidence and punishment; the other, who says remember me, represents the awakened willingness to yield to truth. In Neville language, the kingdom is not coming later; it is the I AM you awaken to when you name your true posture: I am safe, I am loved, I belong to a kingdom that transcends appearances. Jesus’ words, 'Today shalt thou be with me in paradise,' announce a present realization—the paradise is the state of awareness you possess now, not a distant locale. The turning comes through a simple revision: claim innocence, extend mercy to what you have condemned, and dwell in the feeling of the wish fulfilled. As you persist in this assumption, you walk from the cross of limitation into the inner Jerusalem, and the 'paradise' you sought becomes the conscious atmosphere of your daily life.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and revise: imagine the I AM saying to you, 'Today you shall be with me in paradise,' and linger in the felt sense that your kingdom is here, now.
