The Betrayer at the Inner Table

Luke 22:21 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Luke 22 in context

Scripture Focus

21But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.
Luke 22:21

Biblical Context

Luke 22:21 places the betrayer within the intimate circle, showing that treachery can dwell in the table of fellowship. The invitation is to recognize this inner movement as a state of mind, not an external enemy, and to awaken to unity.

Neville's Inner Vision

Behold the hand that betrays me is with me on the table; the betrayer is not a person separate from you, but a state of consciousness—fear, doubt, or hidden judgment—that sits in your own mind as you attend to a common table with others. The table is your present moment of awareness; the hand is an inner movement you have not yet harmonized. The reality you seek is not outside, but within your own I AM. In this scene, unity is tested by the presence of discord, and the inner teacher inside you uses that discord to reveal what you truly believe about yourself and God. If you insist that you are separate from the whole, the betrayer becomes real; if you revise and say, I AM in all, I AM the table, I AM the circle of fellowship, then the belief in separation loses its grip. The betrayer’s appearance is therefore a friendly reminder that you are always in the company of your own consciousness, and your choice to see through separation dissolves the veneer of treachery into oneness.

Practice This Now

Imaginative_act: Sit with eyes closed, breathe deeply, and assume the feeling I AM as your only reality. Visualize the betrayer seated at the table with you, and affirm I AM in all; we are one. Stay with that sense of unity for a minute, letting the imagined scene reveal that there is no separate self to betray the whole.
