Luke 22:10-12

Biblical Context

In Luke 22:10-12, Jesus directs the disciples to find a house with a man carrying water and prepare an upper room for the Passover.

Neville's Inner Vision

I see the city as the stage of appearances, and the man bearing a pitcher of water as the symbol of living grace moving through my consciousness. The Master speaks as I AM, telling me to follow the sign to the guest-chamber inside. The goodman of the house is the inner executive who answers my call, and he shows me a large upper room furnished for communion. There, I and my disciples—my trusted inner and outer relationships—prepare the Passover, the renewal of covenant with God. The room is furnished because I have already decided in my imaginal power that I am in the presence of the Lord. The act of making ready is simply the adjustment of my state: I assume the feeling that fellowship, true worship, and unity are now established. In this inner room, the Presence of God becomes tangible; identification with the outer world dissolves as I recognize the I AM dwelling with me. The covenant loyalty is fulfilled by this inner communion, which sustains me and my community in love.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Assume you are already in the furnished upper room—feel the Master’s presence and the unity of your community; dwell in the sense that this covenant is now real.
