Luke 2:48-50

Biblical Context

Mary and Joseph search for Jesus and are astonished; he tells them he must be about his Father's business, and they do not understand his words.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this moment the mother and father are inner states of consciousness; the boy is your I AM, the awareness that you are God. When he declares I must be about my Father's business, you are being invited to abandon attachment to outer appearances and to choose the inner vocation that aligns with the Father within. The temple scene is the sanctuary of attention where you listen for the still, small voice of your divine assumption. The sorrow of the parents and their question reveal the ego's fear and need for approval, while the inner self remains fixed on purpose, undisturbed by time or circumstance. The line that they understood not is the mind's failure to recognize its true name I AM. Your true work is the inner discovery and steady living of your identity as God in expression. Practice: imagine you are already about your Father's business and let that vision govern your day.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume you are already engaged in your Father's business; feel the guiding I AM with you, then revise any anxious thought by affirming you are doing the work of your Father in the present moment.
