Biblical Context
Simeon takes the child in his arms, blesses God, and declares that salvation has come for all people—a light to the nations and the glory of Israel.
Neville's Inner Vision
Beloved, when you read Simeon’s canticle you are not hearing about a distant event; you are hearing your own state of consciousness awakened. The Child is your newborn idea—salvation—already formed in the mind that knows no lack. 'Mine eyes have seen thy salvation' means your awareness has encountered the inner light that reconciles all opposites. 'Prepared before the face of all people' indicates that this illumination is universal, waiting for your recognition in every situation. The phrase 'a light to lighten the Gentiles' reveals the inner rays that dissolve separation, waking you to oneness beyond tribe or circumstance. 'The glory of thy people Israel' points to the perfected idea of your own awareness, the divine nature shining through your ordinary days. And so, peace becomes your natural atmosphere—the stillness that follows when you stop running the old story and rest in the I AM. If you can really feel this as now, you are not waiting for salvation; you are already living it, right where you are. Your faith is not future but present act; your abandonment of fear is the birth of the new.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and inhabit the sense: 'I am salvation now.' Feel the inner light expand until peace rests within you as the I AM; hold this as your daily birthright.
