Luke 2:25-35 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Luke 2 in context

Scripture Focus

25And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.
26And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
27And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,
28Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,
29Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:
30For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,
31Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;
32A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.
33And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.
34And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;
35(Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.
Luke 2:25-35

Biblical Context

Simeon, a devout man, waited for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit rested on him. When Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to the temple, he blessed God and declared that he had seen salvation prepared for all people.

Neville's Inner Vision

In Luke’s temple scene, you are invited to recognize that Simeon’s waiting is a state of consciousness awakening to its own birth. The Holy Ghost upon him is your own heightened awareness resting on the idea of Christ, a certainty that you will not depart this life before the presence of the Christ appears in form within. When you take the child Jesus into your arms in imagination, you cradle the birth of your own I AM—the realized salvation here and now. The blessing he offers is your inward blessing: peace that transcends old fear and aligns with the spoken word of the Father. 'Mine eyes have seen thy salvation' becomes your present seeing, the light that illuminates your entire mind and the glory of your true lineage. The prophecy of a sword piercing Mary’s soul hints at shedding outdated beliefs that keep mind and heart divided; as you revise, the thoughts of many hearts are revealed by your clear inner sight. Practice: assume you have already witnessed your inner Christ; dwell in that consciousness and let every moment reflect salvation, light, and unity.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume you are Simeon, standing in the temple of your mind. affirm that you have already seen the Christ within; rest in that assurance for a few minutes, blessing the birth of your inner salvation and feeling deep peace.
