Biblical Context
In Luke 2:17-20, the shepherds tell others about what they were told regarding the child. All who hear marvel at the things told them, and Mary stores and ponders these things in her heart; the shepherds return, glorifying and praising God.
Neville's Inner Vision
On the inner plane, the shepherds are your alert faculties bearing witness to a revelation you have not yet fully integrated. The 'seeing' and 'hearing' are not distant events but inner alignments of consciousness: the I AM awakening to the truth of your divine son, the seed within. When they proclaim 'it is told them concerning this child,' you are told of your own nature, and the outer world responds with wonder as if the vision has escaped from your private night into the daylight of your days. Mary keeping and pondering represents your contemplative mind holding the revelation in its heart, not discarding it but slowly interpreting its meaning, letting it mature. The shepherds returning, glorifying and praising God, signal the living acknowledgement of this reality in your daily experience—glory to the One within. The entire scene is a script for inner conversion: from hearing to proclaiming, from amazement to quiet, confident gratitude, from external events to the inner act of realization. Your assumptions govern how this 'news' appears in your life, and as you revise your inner weather, the world echoes back your inner state.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: In a quiet moment, assume you already know your divine son within; feel the news as present reality, and let yourself proclaim it aloud. Write one sentence of proclamation and live as if that truth is already yours today.
