Inner Division, Inner Peace
Luke 12:51-53 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Luke 12 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jesus declares that his coming will bring division, even within families, signaling a shift in loyalties toward truth rather than conventional peace.
Neville's Inner Vision
Luke 12:51-53 is not about external factions but the inner separation of states of consciousness. The 'house' is the mind; the 'five in one house divided' are competing tendencies—old beliefs, fear, desire, faith, and the higher longing. When the Christ-impulse, the I AM within, awakens, the old loyalties must yield, which may appear as conflict with family or familiar patterns. This division is a natural clearing so that you may align with truth rather than mere outward peace. The I AM is not dependent on others to bless you; imagination is the instrument by which your inner reality is formed, and the kingdom is already present as a state of consciousness. Embrace the friction as the birth pains of a higher self; let your attention be fixed on the state you wish to inhabit, not the outer dispute. Repeat and dwell in the feeling of that state until the room inside you is quiet, and unity is restored in consciousness.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Sit quietly and repeat, 'I am the I AM; I choose the state of peace and truth now.' See the old self step aside as the new You stands, and let that felt sense settle in your chest.
