Scripture Focus

49I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?
50But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!
Luke 12:49-50

Biblical Context

Luke 12:49-50 speaks of bringing a fire to earth and a baptism to undergo, signaling a transformative inner shift that mirrors outer life. In Neville's view, this hints that the change begins in consciousness and becomes your lived experience when you assume it is already done.

Neville's Inner Vision

Your inner world is the 'earth' on which the fire must be kindled. The 'fire' is the concentrated awareness that burns away limitation as you conceive of yourself as already free. The 'baptism' is not a ritual, but a deep immersion into a higher state of consciousness you have to undergo—an immersion so complete that your old self seems constrained. The cry 'what will I, if it be already kindled?' invites you to accept that the change is already completed in your imagination. When you claim, 'I AM' the end of the story, the external world bends to mirror this inner conviction. The straitening you feel is the pressure of your old state releasing its hold, a sign that your consciousness is expanding toward that baptism's completion.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, imagine the inner fire already kindled within you, and declare 'I AM' as you feel the end realized; then revise any sense of lack by dwelling in the feeling of the fulfilled baptism.
