The Faithful Inner Steward

Luke 12:41-48 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus

41Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even to all?
42And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?
43Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
44Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.
45But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;
46The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
47And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
48But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

Biblical Context

Luke 12:41-48 presents a faithful steward rewarded for dutifully tending the master's household, and a negligent one punished for neglect. It makes clear that awareness of the master's will brings responsibility and a true measure of judgment.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within this parable the master and the household are states of your own consciousness. The 'lord' is the I AM you are becoming aware of; the 'steward' is the quality of disciplined attention you exercise toward your inner world. When you are found 'doing' the will—feeding your inner crowd with truthful thoughts and heartfelt compassion—you are crowned ruler over all you have because you have exercised dominion over your imagined world. The belief in a delayed coming, “My lord delayeth,” is a dream of separation that turns the mind toward reaction rather than unity. The moment you acknowledge the lord in you and renew your discipline, inner resistance dissolves and your realm expands. To know the will and neglect it yields many stripes of resistance; to know not yet do, few stripes. To whom much is given, much is required: your inner endowment grows with faithful use. The invitation is to awaken now, align with the will, and rule your inner estate with love and certainty.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, and in the present tense declare: 'I am the faithful steward of my inner house, and I align every thought with the lord's will now.' Then feel the authority and readiness of one who already rules his realm.
