Inner Wealth, Outer Echoes

Luke 12:16-21 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus

16And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
17And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
18And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
19And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
20But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
21So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
Luke 12:16-21

Biblical Context

The parable portrays a rich man who stores up abundance for himself and neglects a life aligned with God; his wealth is measured by worldly security rather than divine riches.

Neville's Inner Vision

All the world’s barns and crops exist only as symbols in the mind. In Luke 12:16-21, the rich man prospered outwardly, yet his thinking center remained on possession: What shall I do? How shall I store more? He speaks to his soul as if it were a ledger, and God answers from the level of I AM, calling him a fool because his earthbound security cannot outlive the night. The ground that bore fruit is the same consciousness that experiences, yet the fool’s error is assuming outer abundance proves inner fullness. True wealth is being rich toward God—an alignment in awareness that leans on divine provision rather than personal measure. When you identify with the I AM that gives you breath and form, you cease hoarding and begin stewarding from a sense of universal plenty. Fear dissolves as you awaken to the truth that you are not the body's possessions but the awareness that animates all possessions. In this light, prosperity becomes an inner condition that naturally expresses as outward life.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Repeat 'I am rich toward God' until it feels true; close your eyes and imagine your 'barns' expanding with divine energy, then act from that certainty.
