The Single Eye of Light

Luke 11:33-36 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Luke 11 in context

Scripture Focus

33No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light.
34The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.
35Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.
36If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.
Luke 11:33-36

Biblical Context

The passage says your inner sight determines your whole being: a single, clear eye brings light to your body; a distracted or evil eye invites darkness, so guard the light within.

Neville's Inner Vision

To the ear that hears within, the candle you light is not for others; it is the alignment of your imagination with itself. The 'light of the body' is the eye—your focal point of I AM awareness. When your eye is single, your entire being is flooded with light; you perceive not from lack but from the truth of your unity with God. Darkness is merely a misreading of yourself, a momentary shadow when you doubt your inherent brightness. Therefore, take heed that the light within you is not set to flicker by fear, guilt, or habit; keep it on a candlestick—your conscious posture—so that incoming life may see and respond to your clarity. In practice, dwell in the assumption that you already stand in the light that you desire; feel the warm certainty of fullness, and let it radiate through every action.

Practice This Now

Assume you are already the light you seek; feel your body filled with radiant awareness, and keep your inner eye fixed on the truth until it shines in every moment.
