The Inner Light Shines On

Luke 11:33 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Luke 11 in context

Scripture Focus

33No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light.
Luke 11:33

Biblical Context

Luke 11:33 teaches that a lighted candle must not be hidden; the inner light of consciousness is to be placed where all can see. It invites you to let that light guide your presence in the world.

Neville's Inner Vision

To me, the candle is your state of awareness, and the bushel is every shadow of doubt, fear, or habit that would hide who you truly are. When you light the candle, you are not performing a ritual so others will approve; you are recognizing that God within—your I AM presence—already radiates truth. The light is not a private secret but a symbol of consciousness made visible through your daily acts. When you place that light on a candlestick—an elevated awareness—you invite the world to reflect your inner condition, not to judge it. The seeing others do is simply your own attention witnessing itself. As you dwell in the awareness that you are the light, you release the need to placate or hide; manifestation arises as you act in faith, truth, and presence. Faithfulness becomes your behavior, not a theory; obedience becomes a continuous returning to the awareness that you are the Source. Let your imagination do the work: see the room brightened by your inner light, and feel the reality of it now.

Practice This Now

Assume you are the candle on the candlestick; in this moment affirm I am the light that others see. Then revise any sense of concealment by declaring From this day, my awareness shines openly.
