Biblical Context
Jesus says this generation seeks a sign, but the true sign is inward turning; Nineveh repented, and a greater than Jonah is present, indicating inner judgment and discernment.
Neville's Inner Vision
From the inner vision Neville teaches, the crowd’s hunger for a sign reveals a consciousness stuck in outer appearances. The sign of Jonas is not a weathered miracle but the inward turning that occurs when you yield to an inner word and let it move you. Jonah’s appearance in the tale represents the inner message that comes to you as you listen to your own I AM. In that listening, the Son of Man awakens as your present awareness—greater than Jonah because the inner Christ is already here, not coming later. The queen of the south and Solomon symbolize discernment you can cultivate by turning attention away from spectacle and toward the Wise Presence within. The people of Nineveh repented at the preaching of Jonah; so too, you repent by shifting your state of consciousness, changing the assumptions that govern your life. Judgment is therefore inward: you are judged by the inner alignment you affirm. When you accept this shift—feeling the truth of your divine nature—you’ll see the outer world respond as a natural mirroring of your inner state. The sign you seek is the sign you are.
Practice This Now
Sit quietly and imagine you already possess the quality you seek; dwell in the feeling of that reality for a few minutes. Declare softly, 'I am the sign; I am already awake.'
