Inner Priesthood and Sanctuary

Leviticus 21:11-12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Leviticus 21 in context

Scripture Focus

11Neither shall he go in to any dead body, nor defile himself for his father, or for his mother;
12Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the LORD.
Leviticus 21:11-12

Biblical Context

Plainly, the text sets the High Priest apart from death and insists he remain within the sanctuary, guarding its sacred space. It speaks of the LORD's anointing as the crown that marks his holiness and presence.

Neville's Inner Vision

Your true self is the High Priest in the inner temple. The dead body represents thoughts and memories that claim death for you—fear, loss, doubt—that would defile your holy space. To leave the sanctuary is to follow such stories into outer battles; the command is to remain within the inner sanctuary where the I AM reigns. The crown of the oil signifies your God-given status and constant presence; you are not a victim but the very presence of God. The LORD's declaration is your own: I am the LORD, and I am always here. So practice: assume you are the priest who never defiles himself, never abandons the sanctuary, never doubts the oath of holiness. In your imagination, revise a scene of limitation by declaring it finished and feel the embrace of the anointing oil of consciousness. In time, the outward world reflects the inward temple: purity, integrity, and presence become your lived reality.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Sit quietly and assume the inner priest state; envision the sanctuary enclosing you and feel the oil of God’s presence upon your head. Repeat 'I am the LORD' until the feeling of holiness is real in your body.
