Inner Boundaries of Purity

Leviticus 18:17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Leviticus 18 in context

Scripture Focus

17Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter, neither shalt thou take her son's daughter, or her daughter's daughter, to uncover her nakedness; for they are her near kinswomen: it is wickedness.
Leviticus 18:17

Biblical Context

Leviticus 18:17 forbids intimate relations within close family lines, specifically a woman with her daughter or granddaughter, labeling such unions as wicked and emphasizing clear relational boundaries.

Neville's Inner Vision

Consider the decree as a map of your inner life. Nakedness in this verse points not to bodies but to exposed states of consciousness you permit in imagination. The woman and her daughter, and the daughter's daughter, represent near kin within you—intimate beliefs, habits, and feelings you have tended or inherited. To uncover their nakedness is to mix energies, to force an outer view on inner work, and so you feel disturbance—what the ancients called wickedness—because your inner order is violated. The law asks you to guard boundaries within your own awareness: keep the sacred chambers of mind free from casual exposure to others’ states and from ungoverned impulses. When you honor this boundary, you align with the I AM, the awareness that creates your life, and you realize you are the sole owner and gardener of your inner garden. With disciplined imagination, you conserve energy and allow a harmonious, truthful self-expression to emerge in your relationships and actions.

Practice This Now

Assume: 'I guard the inner sanctuary; only harmonious, reverent thoughts about myself and others enter my awareness.' Feel it real by dwelling there for a minute, letting the boundary glow as a warm, protective light.
