Judges 20:38

Biblical Context

Judges 20:38 speaks of an appointed sign—a great flame and rising smoke—shared between Israel and the ambush. It marks a deliberate signal within the narrative, signaling strategy, perception, and accountability.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within this verse, the great flame and the smoke are not outward warfare but an inner arrangement of consciousness. The 'sign' is the agreement of two states of mind: the awakened I AM (Israel) and the hidden tendencies in wait (the liars). When I imagine the city as my mind, the rising smoke becomes the visible consequence of a belief I have chosen to fuel. The sign is a calibration of inner weather; by consenting to a fiery sign I turn thought into form, and I thereby reveal what I have been holding in unconscious persistence. The battle is always within: I am not fighting others but re-aligning my inner signal so that the end I desire already exists in me as the I AM. When I acknowledge that all drama is self-made impression, I can let the old forms burn away, and the smoke that rises is the release of limitation. My task is to assume the feeling of the fulfilled sign, and dwell in the awareness that I am the creator of the city and its flame.

Practice This Now

Practice: select a present issue, close your eyes, and declare an inner sign between your higher self and the problem—ignite a great flame and watch the smoke rise as the old limitation dissolves. Then feel the I AM as reality, assuming the fulfilled end until it settles into your daily experience.
