The Inner Test of Covenant Obedience

Judges 2:21-22 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Judges 2 in context

Scripture Focus

21I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations which Joshua left when he died:
22That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the LORD to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not.
Judges 2:21-22

Biblical Context

God states He will not drive out the nations Joshua left, to test if Israel will walk in the LORD's way as their fathers did. This testing is about obedience and covenant loyalty, exposing the heart's choice.

Neville's Inner Vision

Judges 2:21-22 speaks of God not driving out the nations so that Israel might be proven, whether they will keep the LORD’s way or not. In Neville’s light, these nations are the lingering states within you—the memories, fears, and attachments that tempt you away from your true alignment. The I AM within you allows these leftovers to remain, not to condemn you, but to test the sincerity of your covenant with the divine pattern. Your Joshua—the higher self—has already walked in the LORD's way; you are asked to notice what you still permit to govern your thoughts and choices. The proof lies not in outward conquest but in the steadiness of your inward obedience: do you answer each impulse with faith in the I AM, or revert to familiar habits? When you declare, in feeling, that you walk in divine order, these inner remnants surface, inviting you to revise them through the conviction that you are the living embodiment of obedience. This is the sacred examination: a moment-to-moment alignment with the inner LORD.

Practice This Now

Assume the stance, 'I am walking in the LORD's way now.' Feel that alignment as a settled, calm 'I AM' presence and revise any lingering urge by silently reaffirming, 'I am obedient to the divine pattern in me.'
