Biblical Context
Manoah fears they have seen God and will die. His wife argues that such revelation comes from a merciful God who reveals Himself through offerings, not doom.
Neville's Inner Vision
Judges 13:22–23 is not a record of an external visitation intended to frighten you; it is a mirror of your inner state. When Manoah declares that they shall surely die because they have seen God, he reveals a consciousness that interprets encounter as catastrophe. Yet the wife answers from a higher recognition: God would not reveal Himself to end life; such revelation comes because you are already held by a gracious presence. In Neville’s terms, the 'seeing of God' is the awakening of the I AM within you, the awareness that your imagination and inner life are the very altar and temple of creation. The offerings mentioned symbolize your acts of consecration—thoughts and feelings offered to the divine within—which disclose guidance and signs of providence. The message they receive is not a threat but confirmation that the inner state is observed and guided by a benevolent consciousness. When you realize you are always in the presence of God, fear loses its grip and true worship emerges as harmonious alignment, not external ritual.
Practice This Now
Assume the feeling 'I am in the presence of God now' for a few minutes, and revise fear as a misreading of your inner light; repeat 'I am that I am' until the sense of being watched by mercy replaces dread.
