Inner Covenant Renewal in Joshua
Joshua 5:2-3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Joshua 5 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The LORD commands circumcision to renew Israel’s covenant sign, marking holiness and obedience. It signals a transition from an old identity to a freshly renewed people.
Neville's Inner Vision
Consider Joshua 5:2-3 as a scripture of inward surgery. The instruction to circumcise again the children of Israel is not merely a ritual of the body but a metaphor for cleansing consciousness. The 'foreskins' are the old boundaries of identity that cover awareness and limit what the I AM can express. When Joshua heeds the Lord and the people are circumcised, the moment becomes a declaration that the mind chooses to renew its vow—holiness as a state of being, not a ritual for show. In Neville's mode, this is a turning of loyalty from outward compliance to inner alignment: you and God, the I AM, in constant agreement. The hill of the foreskins becomes the hill of the mind where worn beliefs lie exposed to light and can be cast away. As you imagine yourself, you shed your old limitations, entering a new creation by knowing you are already the I AM, the one who creates reality. Obedience then becomes yielding to a higher order of consciousness, and outward circumstances begin to reflect the inward covenant you have embraced.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly, breathe, and assume you are already living in the renewed covenant. Visualize old beliefs as skins being peeled away, revealing the I AM at the center of awareness, and repeat, 'I am renewed now' until it feels true.
