Inner Stones of Jordan Crossing
Joshua 4:9-10 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Joshua 4 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Joshua sets up twelve stones in the Jordan as a memorial, while the priests with the ark stand in the river until all commands are completed, and the people cross over.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within Joshua’s scene, the Jordan is not a geography but the river of your own consciousness, always moving. The twelve stones are fixed stations of awareness you plant in the stream, invisible yet real, markers that say, 'I am here with the ark of the covenant—my own I AM presence.' The priests with the ark symbolize the I AM in action, carrying divine law through the current, remaining in the center until every command is spoken and fulfilled. When you acknowledge that the command is complete within you—'the law has been spoken, you cross'—the people (your outward life) hasten across, not by effort but by alignment. Obedience is inner listening; faithfulness is staying with the inner move until the outward motion follows. In this sense, the 'stones' endure to this day because the consciousness remains fixed in the realized state. Presence of God is not a distant thing; it is the I AM that stands in the river, and when you honor it, you cross from limitation into fulfilled possibility.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and imagine the Jordan as the current of your life. Place twelve fixed affirmations in the water, then feel the ark of I AM steady at the center and declare that the crossing is already done.
